Our History
With this concern in mind, in 1990-91, the Church Board along with Ferrahian Armenian School, was able to obtain California Pre-School licensing for children aged 2.9-5 years old. Thereafter, the Armenian Relief Society of Western U.S.A. sponsored the preschool. On April 28, 1991, the preschool had an official opening ceremony, attendees including but not limited to, the Prelate of the Western Prelacy, Church Board Members, Armenian Relief Society representatives, and other officials from within the community. In 2006, Mrs. Ashkhen Pilavjian became a benefactor by contributing to the renovation of the preschool leading to the current name, Holy Martyrs ARS Ashkhen Pilavjian Preschool. Holy Martyrs ARS Ashkhen Pilavjian Preschool became a part of the first Armenian schools, Holy Martyrs Ferrahian High School, established in 1964 in Encino and Marie Cabayan Elementary School, North Hills. The Preschool officially opened its doors on February 14, 1991, accepting 3-4 years olds later obtaining the license to additionally accept 2 year olds.
